A Dream Deferred

Even though the book-publishing industry may be dying, I would like to publish a book, a little book please, about the sayings of Jesus.  I cherish the sayings of the Master, Jesus, because they are pregnant with meaning, meaning which is relevant to every age.  This has been a hope and dream of mine for years, decades.  I’m now in 2009 an old man, but I still can read and write.  MLK wrote a letter from a Birningham jail explaining to fellow pastors "why we can’t wait" for civil rights and equality.  Well I think the world can easily wait for my book, because the sayings of Jesus are available for most people to read and ponder and practice in their lives, if they so choose.  They sparkle in the gospels like the stars in the sky at dusk.

Books vs. Internet

Many people, including intellectuals, also including common readers with little experience of the internet, lament the incursion of the internet into the world of books, in that the computer and  related technology, as these take up more time in people’s lives today, seem to be detracting from the popular pastime  of reading  books.  Reading  books, not e-books, but actual books made from paper, seems to be declining among the population, certainly among younger people.  Is this true?  What are the facts?  What are the statistics?
This phenomenon prompts a question about the typical role and function of books in communicating ideas, emotions, trends, stories,  etc.  in society at large.  Is the publishing industry going extinct?

Vibrations of Super Strings

In this secret space, which no one is likely to visit, will be stored the answer to the riddle of existence.  This is that the music of Anton Karas’ zither
which  accompanies a 1949 film by Carol  Reed (director) and Graham Greene (writer) broadcasts to hearts of flesh the signal of Alpha and Omega.
The signal is felt.  It is perceived in no other way.  The signal is infinitely malleable in the many outward forms in which it is contained, but its core is
stable, unchanging and is received by the heart similarly.  (Only metaphors suffice in describing this feeling of connection to the ocean of being.)
Penny the penguin’s arduous journey home from the frozen cafes of the Arctic, the legendary meeting of Duane Allman  and  David Bowie that
produced the unknown song, ‘Slide into Inner Space [Variation 7]’ , the sigh of Rudulf Bultmann as he closes his New Testament, the tone in the
voice of Moses heard only by God  on  Sinai ,  ‘Mona Lisa”s smile, the Buddha and his flower, Mr. Spock appearing on the Simpsons – share the
common theme of mystic knowing through the feeling of deep sadness.

An Opinion about Sarah Palin’s Candidacy

I think Sarah Palin is the freshest, most exciting candidate for Vice President of the United States in the history of these elections,
at least as far as major party candidates go.  I think she would be an excellent VP, giving President McCain good advice when he seeks it.

Think On This

A cosmos exists with lifeforms present within its confines.  It popped into being from nothing for nothing.  The inhabitants are
quite happy.  This cosmos disappears.  All is quiet.  All is darkness.  All is nothing.  Another cosmos pops into reality, this one
containing no life.  It does have stars, planets and lots of things.  It lasts forever.

Verizon Internet Service Too Often Missing

I’ve noticed that Verizon doesn’t provide internet connections when it’s raining out (i.e., there’s electrical activity in the atmosphere).  Also, at times, Verizon fails its DSL subscribers for other reasons, unknown to me.  I pay a monthly fee to
Verizon for internet connectivity.  Is Verizon going to refund my money for the times  it is unable  to link me and my computer
to the internet?

Musings

I believe in God, but I wonder if He really exists.  It would be nice if He, Herself would answer my question definitively, but I don’t
think She will.  According to the Bible, we must have faith.  So I’ll leave it at that and continue to believe and wonder.

Just for the sake of self-expression

I’m entertaining myself by writing this.   What am I writing?
