Logic

Logic is an aid to knowledge. Logic is based on experience and numbers (i.e., mathematics, esp. algebra). Symbols are very important in logic as they’re used to reduce a problem to abstract form to arrive at what is true and false in a solution.

Example of use of symbols in logic.

Mr. Spock of StarTrek said: “Logic is a little tweeting bird chirping in a meadow. Logic is a wreath of pretty flowers which smell bad.”

Logic is a tool of mind for use in reasoning to understand things. Enjoy!

Reason is good, I guess. In one instance in the Bible when Judah was facing a problem, God told them, “Come, let us reason (decide or settle this argument) together” (Isa.1:18). Isn’t God just awesome? 🙂

  2. @paulyr2 Thanks for another intriguing thought-provoking post. This one really caught my attention. I will say why in just a minute.
Assuming this is the meaning of the symbols.
    the caret ^ means AND.
the reverse caret v means OR.

TRUE is when p AND q AND r are equal (whether positive or negative). These fit the top and bottom rows.
TRUE is when p AND q are false (written as -p AND -q).
So, yes. I can verify the formula is correct.

You may or may not know this. The above logic is very similar to the logic used to determine when a dream is “false.” If at least one element in a dream is false, the entire dream is false. Because God is Truth.
These kinds of dreams require we use spiritual discernment.

So, this is why the logic caught my attention:

I once heard this riddle in a dream (this really happened).
“The 3 scenes of this dream are 3 snakeskins.”
The riddle left me puzzled for days, wondering – does this statement mean that the dream is false or is it telling me the dream only appears to be false?

Hint: Consider what it means when a wolf wears sheepskin (Matthew 7:15). Even though the wolf looks like a sheep, the wolf is false.

Apply the same logic to decipher the riddle.
If the 3-part dream wears 3 snakeskins, does it mean the dream is false? Or could it mean the dream appears to be false, but is actually true?
    What do you think? J.

Hi Jacquie. I can tell that this post on logic had a serious effect on you just by the length of your response. You are correct in your identification of symbols used in my example and in your verification of formula. As for your dream with ‘snakeskins’ riddle, I can’t say whether dream is true or false, wihout knowing its full content and related context. However the ‘snakeskins’ riddle or statement does not seem to me to indicate truth or falsehood, but rather the 3 scenes of the dream are covered by ‘skins,’ which need to be removed, like a snake discards its old skin to reveal its new skin. (Matt 9:17 is relevant here.) Once the obscuring factors are removed, the hidden meanings of the scenes will shine forth. This is my interpretaion of the “riddle.” Thanks for your interest in my blog, Jacquie & may God always bless you with faith and wisdom.

Logic needs to find out the truth! 👌
